A fantastic story full to the brim with curses, prison break-outs and of course a pinch of magic!
The characters are beautifully written especially the three sisters Fliss, Betty, and Charlie who are so distinct in their own right but the familial bond is so deep it is as if they are real sisters you know.
Betty is determined to get away from home in the Poachers Pocket with her grumpy granny to go on adventures, but learns that her dreams won't come true as all the women in her family, including herself and two sisters are cursed to die if they leave Crowstone. We follow her with Fliss and Charlie as they risk it all to break this curse once and for all!
The Islands where they live are brilliantly brought to life, called Crowstone and the Sorrow Isles which are surrounded by the Misty Marshes full of wonderful and strange characters too.
I absolutely loved reading this story, and was hooked from the first chapter! If you are looking for another magical story like this I would recommend 'The Storm Keeper's Island' by Catherine Doyle
