When I started reading I was like „why is the rating at 3.5, the plot sounds promising“ then I came to the gran not so gran finale and was like „oh okay yeah that‘s kinda lame“. But it was cute.

Possible spoilers but not giving specifics. I mention how I feel about the ending but do not give details, just vibes here.
Described to me by a fellow bookseller as a mix of “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” and “Kate and Leopold”. Lovable regency romance mixed with vampire drama with a dash of a modern rom-com? Sounded like a perfect palette cleanser. I really wanted to like this but with all its potential “My Roommate is a Vampire” fell completely flat.
The characters were lacking; moments of promised lovable character development was rare and mixed with drawn out, repetitive and sometimes, extremely cringey dialogue. The author focused on the most random things for far too long, leaving the ending feeling rushed and their connection hollow. We were also given hints to some really interesting lore and secondary characters but instead of exploring what they could add to the story, we get a vague mention and then sent right back into the same exhausting plot the author would not break from.
Overall, it was a relatively cute story with some genuinely hilarious moments of “wtf did they just say??” but felt like a first draft.
P.S. If I never read the words “staring at (insert mundane item, like shoes, here) like it was the most interesting thing in the world” or the word “incredulous”, again, it will be too soon.

This books is lighthearted and enjoyable. I had moments where I genuinely laughed and ultimately found myself enjoying the easy read.
This book is pretty much the epitome of rom-com energy. And considering that was the goal of the author, I would say it met it's mark. I know if I ever need a pick me up, I'll probably read this book again.
I would recommend reading this book when you want something light hearted, that gives off massive rom-com energy, and that you can relax with when you need to.

Blood is also mentioned, because, you know, vampires. I wouldn't even bother putting it into content warning because it should be a given. Kidnapping is a minor plot point near the end of the book, and I'm only putting it in 'moderate' because it wasn't a brief description or mention. Please note that unlike many romance books out there these days that are aimed towards an adult female audience, this one isn't full of sex. So for those of us who prefer to avoid copious amounts of sex scenes this is good book for you. I was really into this book until about 80% in when all of a sudden all of the conflicts got wrapped up tidily in a neat bow. There was all this build up to the confrontation with his mom and then it just fell flat.

It was a cute book, I didn’t love the massive age gap that was only mentioned once. Honestly I was really into this book until they got together. Once they were together it felt weird. I didn’t love their relationship.

This was a super fun, lighthearted romance. It was just the thing I needed to get me out of a reading slump! The characters are super lovable, the romance is super wholesome and it'll definitely have you smiling like an idiot. Frederick is hilarious! The only problem is I wish it was longer just so I could see more xD. I'm not ready to say goodbye 😭 Low stakes, fun read with a couple little twists and a spicy scene for good measure! 4.75 stars because it delivered exactly what I thought it would and everything wrapped up perfectly. .25 stars deducted because Cassie mentions how hot Frederick is a few too many times lol.
