It's Faulkner, so it's rich and dense prose, but really lovely. I'll always remember the coffin-building scene.

I have never been more mad about a character not dying by the end. Anse should be dead and buried

What an amazing thing. The voices, it's all voices in southern rural slang with their own sophisticated logics (although one logic is: My mother is a fish.) The language is slow and I got lost in it. I spend time there. Slow slow slow. Not difficult, it just demands to you slow down and process the experience. And it complicated, and it brings in a variety of ideas, and it's funny and it's just a lot of things. Wonderful work.
