Okay, let's me real here: this book is 100% ridiculous and 100% implausible. I mean, this entire series has been ridiculous (in a fun way) and implausible, but I think this one takes the cake. Let's bullet point things, shall we?
- A super bad dude escapes from prison. The FBI sends the stepson of the guy the super bad dude killed to protect the super bad dude's doctor ex-girlfriend, who just so happens to be the mother of super bad dude's kid.
- FBI Guy and Doctor Ex-Girlfriend fall in love. IN TWO DAYS.
- Doctor Ex-Girlfriend's 13 year old is totally okay with her mother agreeing to marry some guy after two days.
- Elvis impersonators.
- Secret millionaires.
- Super obvious clues that something's wrong being totally ignored.
- A whole weird subplot involving voodoo????
- A dog and a goat falling in love.

In short, it was silly and fun and surprisingly okay as far as consent went (Janet Evanovich has a tendency to get...dubious). Totally predictable, of course, but hey. It kept me occupied on the bus ride home from work, so...there's that.

Book # 28 read in 2012

This was a quick read. It introduced new characters, but still gave an updated glimpse into the lives of Jamie and Max Holt.

I love a good Janet book- they're short, fun, and captivating. What I do not love is being mislead thinking I'm getting another Max Holt story, but instead Max is basically making guest appearances...

The book would make a great stand-alone, but I didn't love it as a part of the "Full" series.

A romance, some murder, and some better than sex chocolate ice cream... All in all a very good read!

This was a fun read. I need to go look at the others in the series. Maggie is the town doctor with a 13 year old daughter. If that wasn't enough, her ex is coming for her after escaping prison. A sext FBI agent is guarding her, her daughter is being a 13 year old and her friends are a bit wacky. That's what you expect from Janet Evanovich though. LOL

Fun, lighthearted romp. Although there were a few plotholes/questions I left with (what exactly did she do to him? why did he choose then to escape? what exactly was he planning to do once he got there?) But, still. Fun characters and an entertaining read.

Trashy, too much going on, superficial

This book is the last of the Max Holt series, however it reads more like a spin-off from that series with a guest appearance of Max Holt and Jamie Swift.

I like the major plot line of this story. Maggie, a single mom and pediatrician, in Beaumont SC is placed under FBI protection after her Psycho EX breaks out of prison. Carl Lee was sentenced to life in prison after robbing a armored truck and killing a fed. Later on we discover he actually tortured Maggie when she refused to leave with him. (SIDE NOTE: She had aready dumped him before he went on a crime spree)

Sparks fly between Maggie and Zach (her FBI PROTECTION).
The conclusion to the major story line was well done. lots of tension, dramatic conclusion. The end to the love story ws Bull Hockey. I hate when stories rush the falling in love. Why do they always have to get engaged after knowing each other for a few days. B/C that is what happens they know each other for less then 4 days. Couldn't he have said. "yeah babe, I think I am falling in love with. Lets see where this thing is going. I am crazy about you." Not "I love you, marry me."
UGGHH.

I listened to the audiobook version and was very satisfied witht he narrators rendition and interpretation of the crazy cast of characters. She has read all of th MAX HOLT novels and would like to listen to the other books she has narrated.

Once again Jamie and Max kind of take a back seat to let others in Beaumont come to the forefront. This time, Maggie, the town pediatrician, is in danger from an escaped convict and FBI agent Zack is sent to keep her safe. Meanwhile, an Elvis convention is in town and Fleas the dog falls in love with Butterbean the goat. The usual craziness of Beaumont makes this one a fun read. I hope they put out some more in this series.
