I read a review that this book would help understand and be an entry to learning more about the current genocide ongoing in Palestine. And I agree that it does help the reader understand how we got to this point, from examining Zionism’s roots to seeing how various presidents have handled Israel's colonization and negotiations for a two state system. This is a good starting point to get a grasp and then move onto accounts from Palestinians on the issue.

The narrator does a great job inflecting tone in the words and quotes to really show the seriousness to show how long the left wing side of America has been silent on the issue. Like the title says, “Except for Palestine” is the one thing the left doesn’t support despite its ideals.

I do admit, reading this book made me realize how long I’ve neglected learning about Israel. I guess growing up I always thought the Middle East was full of conflict but I mainly heard about Iraq and Iran, the twisted version of Islam that gets spouted, and the long lasting consequences it has had for the Muslim community all over. This book goes back decades, throughout several presidents, Palestine’s suffering didn’t start on October 7th.

While Biden should be blasted for his hand in not only continuing the genocide, but now discontinuing aid to help those suffering, there are actions. As the book says, this conflict has been going on for decades and what has America done to help-lots of tiptoeing around, some acknowledgements that should not be said, and essentially not help Palestine.

We need to help Palestine however we can. Call those reps, donate aid and means for them to keep communicating, keep yourself informed. https://linktr.ee/stopusfunding2israel

This is a great read if you are wanting to gain more knowledge on what has occurred in Palestine, the on going crisis in Palestine, and the ongoing occupation. It especially discusses the role the U.S. and its politicians have had an effect on Israel, and its political landscape. While this book was very informative it only scratches the surface of this years long issue.
