adventurous relaxing

Some very interesting and engaging parts. I was most intrigued by the author's note that alluded to aspects of his life. I looked him up on wikipedia and wow. He has definitely led a life full of tough situations which led him to be a true survivor in many ways.
fast-paced

great book. these books inspire me to follow that urging to go live in the woods. I dont think I would want to go alone, and I would want to be near a library, but it is the same desire. :)

It was interesting to see Brian back home and struggling with what seems like PTSD before he returns to nature, but what I loved about the previous books felt lacking in this installation.
adventurous informative tense medium-paced
Plot or Character Driven: Character
Strong character development: Yes
Loveable characters: Yes
Diverse cast of characters: No
Flaws of characters a main focus: No

I like the character and I like the writing, but did anyone really need this one? If you are a fan, you'll likely find things you enjoy, but it's in no way required reading.

Thoughtful and contemplative

Brian’s Return is the third book in the Hatchet series. It is about the main character, Brian, returning to the woods after two years in the “city”. He no longer interacts with people, and he is barely scrapping by in school. He feels trapped in a town again without the woods and needs to escape. With help of his counselor friend he plans his trip to the wilderness. He buys and makes all the materials he needs to survive in the wilderness. This book is about Brian’s search for peace in the woods.

I would recommend Brian’s Return, because it’s a short and easy read. This story is full of survival tips that could be useful on the survival trip.
The story is written nicely, but there is no climatic plot, so this is not the book for you if you want a serious plot.
Before you read this book you should read the first two in the series Hatchet and Brian’s Winter.

I think the most amazing thing about this book is that Brian read's Shakespeare by himself in the wilderness and says his life is changed by it.
