I think I liked the idea of this more than the execution. I really liked seeing how Brian was struggling with being in civilization again and it was interesting to see him prepare for the trip and how he's changed since that first experience. Also liked the river travel this time and the experiences Brian had exploring this way.
The thing I've noticed with Gary Paulsen's writing though is that he'll spend the entire book leading up to the big event then the final chapter is that event but like really skimmed over.

I liked that Brian did have to relearn some things. Because no matter how good we are at something, if we don’t practice it we forget.
I did also like how Brian as a character felt like he’d grown in his absence from the wild.
I also loved that the end was “I’ll get there when the time is right”.
