Felt flat for me in comparison to the first book. I did like the start of the book…(bit to explainatory for my taste, but it was inter!). After that it felt boring.

The Dayachenko team has really continued to push the envelope. But this series feels like a wordy stereogram. You have to focus and try to relax through this suspenseful/choppy world building when things start to pop out at you. Likely, you may feel a book hangover if you try to speed read or overthink this concept.
I know I’ll have to do re-listen if/when book 3 is ever translated.

I thoroughly enjoy immersing myself in this world. It is cerebral, and dark. The mind bending magic system really scratches an itch in my brain. Sasha and Farik have an interesting, and contemptuous relationship that I enjoy following. The world building in this is as deep and wonderful as in Vita Nostra. I really love that the reader is in the same position as the protagonist when it comes to learning about the magic system and its dangers. I do hope the 3rd story is released.
