as opposed to some of verso’s output recently, this was actually great and I rattled through it. im grateful it introduced me to the SPK (socialist patients’ collective) and its discussion of health & extractive abandonment was good

Theoretically, how it brought marta Russell’s work on disability and surplus populations and ruth Wilson gilmore’s understanding of racism as a relational process of statecraft together was brilliant and definitely will inform my understanding disability and the capitalist state going forward :)

totally bizarre in that it uses marxist terminology without explanation but is seemingly uninterested in marxist accounts of disability or surplus populations. it feels like it's trying to reinvent the wheel, rehashing marta russell and ruth wilson gilmore. just read capitalism & disability instead

absolutely incredible, timely manifesto. this is a must-read
