I paused this book for a while so that might affect this review. The ending felt super rushed and the epilogue felt like an info dump.

This is my least favorite couple of this series. That's not to say that I didn't like them or that they weren't perfect for each other in their own ways. But, they just didn't click with me the way some of the other couples did. Nothing wrong with that.
Alex has some serious self-hatred that he struggles with, as well as severe feelings of being unwanted and unlovable, despite the friends he has in his roommates. On the surface he's a fun loving guy, but he struggles with his mental health due to previous abuse. Check your trigger warnings before you get into this story.
Kai seems to be a pretty great fit for Alex and they are really sweet together when they're just hanging out or when they are interacting with Kai's family. Their journey seemed to be really healing for Alex and it was great to see him trust in someone and open up to them so that he could begin to accept himself and begin the healing process.
Might recommend this series, but probably not this book on its own. Would also probably read the series again, but not this one by itself.

i did not expect to enjoy this as much as i did LOL Kai and Alex are really good together and the miscommunication/speaking in person and online trope was handled so much better than I'm used to
I've read the blurbs for the other books in the series, and met some of the other characters in this book, but I'm not sure I'm interested in their tropes as much
