Beautifully written book altho the translation is awkward at times. The subplot dragged a bit hence 4 stars but otherwise a great read. Also justice for Abutalip

Global Read 126: Kyrgyzstan

This was an interesting book. There were parts I loved, and other parts I thought dragged. I didn't read much about it so I was kind of shocked when the sci-fi started. That part didn't really go anywhere. It was a much smaller percentage of the book than the other storyline so it felt unbalanced. Also the intersection of the two storylines was very anticlimactic. But I'm impressed with a book that can go from a two page description of a camel, to sci fi, to a retelling of an ancient myth in the span of a few sections.

I did like the tone and humor of this book. The introduction also added another dimension by introducing the context in which this was written. However, the story was sometimes hard to follow for me, which might also have to do with my lack of knowledge of the region. Overall, an interesting read.
