This book is part of the States of Love series and the main characters are Gavin TImberbatch a hot rock star, and Demi Evans, who works as a stewardess on a luxury yacht. They meet on the yacht, where he has come for a break with the rest of his band and team and he is instantly attracted to her. Her job means she has to put on a professional front and the biggest rule is to never get romantically involved with the guests. He finally wears her down, but promises to act as a perfect gentleman and they end up talking for the whole night in his cabin. She could get sacked just for that but fortunately her cabin mate doesn’t say anything. Gavin's break is over and he leaves, but promises to keep in touch with her, even texting before he even gets off the dock! She has another charter to get through before her contract is finished and then hopes to move to Idaho to be with Gavin. They are having their wrap party at the end of the season, when one of the other girls sees a shocking news article on her phone, which says Gavin has been accused of something unthinkable and his star is falling!
Demi rushes to get to him and hears more, finding out he has been dropped by his label, his tour cancelled and now more women have come forward and accused him of heinous crimes. She leaves immediately after these latest accusations, with Gavin having no idea where she has gone. She has an idea of what to do to help him, but doesn’t tell him in case anything goes wrong. He is left alone in his home, knowing more accusations and lies are being told about him and his reputation and career are in tatters. He is certainly finding out who cares about him and it seems like no one but his brother is still on his side. He thought Demi was, until a leaked video comes out, with Demi herself accusing him! Gavin may have once won USA Idol and become famous because of this success, but maybe he should have refused it all, as his brother suggested. He used to have lots of one night stands with fans, living the rock star lifestyle and having a girl in every town he travelled to, but he thought he had something special with Demi. He needs to figure out if she is yet another of these women who are just after him for fame and fortune! The scandal and its aftereffects may well change how he approaches his life from now on and he hopes to have the woman he loves by his side. Lots of twists with the scandal and how easy something like this can ruin people’s lives! An instalove romance with steam and scandal, which seems like it could go off the rails at any moment!
