This book is almost as good as the first in the series. There's a good deal of action and a lot of funny lines. It definitely makes you want to read more. I just want Jesse and Suze to kiss already!

Cabot had me a bit worried we were going fully Buffy in this book. Suze faces off against a local real estate kingpin, who has this thing for hating the dark, crosses, and never eating in public. It's...well, it sounds like vampires. Her priestly guide even begins researching the undead, but the real mystery of the deaths around Carmel-by-the-Sea are more Earthly, and far more dangerous.
With this book, I can see the general path of the series. Or at least the recurring theme. Suze meets new boy, develops crush. New boy is somehow tied to ghosts. Suze gets help from ghost companion Jesse, while denying her feelings for him and focusing on the living boy crush. Mystery is solved, living crush must move again, Suze ends the story still working against feelings for Jesse. It does make me curious for books 6 and 7, with their 12 year publishing gap in-between. But I'll get there soon enough.
While this isn't one of Cabot's best series, and maybe not one I'd have the time to actually read, it's a good enough audiobook. Fast, with a definite Buffy snark that is just fine for me, as a fan. If you're not into Buffy, I imagine you might get mad about the tonal similarities, but if you liked the vampire slayer, you'll enjoy this ghost...puncher.

Suze had a few dumb moments but she did not lack of toughness and readiness to admit to her mistakes (mostly...) and well....even if Suze does irrational stuff then there's Jesse who comes to the rescue and is irresistible :P

Still not wildly impressed by this series, but, hey, I'm going to keep reading it because she STILL HASN'T HOOKED UP WITH THE GHOST.

The Mediator series has a lot of nostalgia for me. It's a breezy paranormal mystery series, with a fun romance that keeps me coming back.
