A short and sweet read, A Ghostly Gift has a touch of humor, a sleazy ghost bar, and a heartwarming tale that will hit you right in the feels.

After reading the 4th book in this fantastic series, I vowed to catch up with all the other books. A Ghostly Gift is a very short story (it took me a half hour to read) set just after the first book. Verity's sister, Melody asks her for a favor; a friend's resale shop is being terrorized by a ghost and she needs Verity's help to get rid of the ghost before anything valuable is broken. With gangster ghost Frankie by her side, Verity goes to investigate and uncovers a long lost secret: a dead WWII soldier needs help to find his old sweetheart.

This was heartwarming and a little sad; my heart went out to the poor soldier and his lost love, who have spent decades mourning their lost love. When they were eventually reunited, it made me a little teary. I'm a sucker for this kind of thing.

Overall, an excellent short story in a fantastic series, and highly recommended for paranormal mystery fans.

Aww. This story made me smile and hit me with the feels. Not humorous like the first book, but it had it's own special charm. A pleasant and quick read. I can't wait to read the next one

A Ghostly Gift (Southern Ghost Hunters Mysteries 1.5) by Angie Fox

This was a book given for review.

We are back visiting with Verity Long and her ghost hunting ghost side kick gangster Frankie 'the German' Valentine.

In this novella Melody, Verity's younger sister, asks her to help her friend from high school who owns a second hand/antique shop in town. She has a bit of a ghost problem that is starting to damage some of the more delicate collectibles. Frankie is not into it because there is no money in it, just a kitchen table and chairs. Verity says she see what they can do.

That night she finds out that the shop used to be a bar and still is for ghosts, mostly men. There is a young soldier from WWII there who is upset because he is missing his love and now the ring he gave her, and she promised to never take off, is in the shop and there is a sickness around it that says she is dying.

Private Johnny Cleveland needs her to find his Miame Bee and get the ring back to her before she passes. Verity can't say no.

This is a wonderful little tale of Verity getting her feet a little wetter in the ghost hunting business without all the danger that surrounded her first foray into that world. A timeless love story that bound two together from 1942 to present day.

I really loved this story. A solid five stars. If you have not read this series before, this is a good story to cut your teeth on. Part of the series but easily a stand alone.

Thank you, Ms. Fox, for sharing your world with us.

I read book 1 a month or 2 ago and couldn't wait to continue...but then I got sick and just kinda forgot. Today I picked up this little novella for some quick reading and I LOVE IT! This author is just the right amounts spooky, heart warming, hilarious, and quirky. I am a dedicated fan now.
Now I need to go rework my May TBR to make room for the next books!

Verity and Frankie are back in this short novella. When asked to help a friend with a ghost problem at her resale shop. Fun and short.
