The series totally holds up. Definitely written for early young adults but the storytelling is fantastic. Still top of my list of books from my childhood.

What a fitting ending to a great fantasy series! The author does a superb job of bringing it all together in a predictable and yet still exciting conclusion. Having all the great characters I had come to enjoy in the first four books all work together to defeat the Dark was enthralling. throw in a few surprising twists and you have a great conclusion to superb series. I'd highly recommend this to lovers of the fantasy genre and I think readers 8 and older can read it as the conflict doesn't result in superfluous violence like so many books.
