The imagery in this book is so vivid. Elaborate descriptions of the horrors visited upon the characters. A haunting ghost story about the damaged slavery inflicted on Black people, and in particular women. The mysteries of the novel are slowly unravelled through the POVs of different characters.  A challenging but very worthwhile read.

How can you not rate this tale of sorrow with full marks. It was heavy to read, Toni Morrison's flowing almost mystical prose take you along for a ride you don't really want to be on.

I had seen/heard someone describe this book as a horror story and I wholeheartedly agree. Toni Morrison has yet to disappoint me with her writing

I loved this book from the first line. I've read it three times, and each time I'm surprised all over again by how much it grips me. Even the title sends chills down my spine. Sit with this book for one day, and I guarantee you will close it looking at the lasting effects of slavery in a whole new way. This book is relevant every day of our lives.
