Yeah I’m gonna need Sorin to stop booping Scarlett. Otherwise I’m totally locked in. Confused. But locked in.

Book 2 in the lady of darkness series was good. Scarlett, now in the Fae courts, must learn who she is and her destiny. She also must figure out her relationship with Sorin.

The pacing of this book is good, and the emotional back and forth is heart wrenching at times.

Now, as a TOG fan, there are a lot of aspects of this book that felt too similar and it actually took me out of this story as a result.

Overall, it ended on an interesting enough note that I will continue to the third one.

4 stars. Tandem read with audio and the narrators were great! It is dual though I wish it was duet.

Alright so I was unsure if I wanted to continue this series after the first one was just an alright read but the Bookish Box editions are too gorgeous to pass up so I commited. I have no regrets.

Is this the most well thought or planned series so far? Nope. Is there time that is spent too long on unnecessary shit? Yep. Are the characters sometimes cringey (especially Scarlett's I am Death's Maiden *rawr* bullshit) and unbelievably dramatic? Definitely. Despite all of that, have I gotten completely sucked in and really, really enjoying the series so far? Yes, yes I have.

I don't know what it is about it but its is one of those obviously trashy books that enthrall you anyways and you just want to continue on this journey with the characters. You want to see what happens, how it all ends, and you are somehow going to enjoy yourself while you do.

I am off to read book 3 and figure out what the fuck all of this means.
