Wow! So much happened in this book, it's hard to even know where to begin. I will say, the constant state of woe is me that Scarlett seems to stay in becomes a little bothersome and it seemed like she spent most of the first book vomiting constantly. I did love her growth though as she came more into her power and her role as Queen. She still keeps a lot of secrets so the miscommunication is still heavy in this book. If that's a trope you don't like, prepare yourself. I love Sorin, I really do but man I wanted to jack him up when he said the things he said to her at the little mountain cabin. He's had a lot of growth too. His patience with Scarlett makes him a saint. I feel so bad for Callan. He's been nothing but a sweetheart since book 1. His only crime was falling in love with someone who could love him back the way he wants. Though, with the way their relationship ended in this book has me wondering how he's going to towards her going forward. At least for a little while. Another thing I'm loving about this series is that the side characters play very large roles and you love each of them for their own reasons. I love when books have lovable side characters and the entire book isn't just focused on the main ones. I am so happy that I didn't know this series existed until it was completed, because the cliffhanger for this one would have pissed me right off! Who the hell saw that coming? Ah well, off to start book 3. If you haven't read these books, you totally should!

This book easily surpasses the first.  The world building is explosive. So many new characters are introduced.  We get back story for new characters and for the previously established characters.  Visits are made to the Fire Court, Earth Court, The White Halls, and the Water Court.  Secrets are revealed and we end with even more questions than we started with.  So much happens in this book that it is difficult to imagine how it could all possibly be resolved.  Excellent pacing and an awesome read!
