Only small deduction due to

caelena coded not telling the audience whats happening and being a secret squirell but being mad at anyone else not telling her everything

The book really comes into it's own about 60% through and it's super addictive.

4.5 ⭐️ It almost gave me the 5 ⭐️ feeling but OMGGGGGGG THE ENDING JAW DROPPED!!!! This book was 1000x better than book 1 bc the plot was plotting and the quotes I was eating them up!!! I need to read book 3 RN

Four stars because I loved the first 80% of the book. Scarlett is maybe drinking some silly goose juice in the last 20% and I’m just so mad at her 🫣 I definitely want to continue the series, but my goodness I want to shake her a bit right now.

I really love the world in this series, I think it’s well done and I don’t find myself being like “hmmm, well that doesn’t make sense”. There’s a lot of unanswered questions right now, but I’m really happy it’s a completed series already so I can get alllll the answers!

DNF at 40%. I vacillate between being annoyed and bored by this story and it’s possible that’s all the fault of the audiobook narrator but I’m not going to keep putting myself through this. I will not be continuing with this series. I already felt lukewarm on the first book but others I trust said the story gets more addictive from the second book on. Not for me. Somehow Scarlet is both very powerful and very weak. So many conversations with her are stilted that I don’t understand why so many characters care about her.

Other than the terrible moments she’s lived through and her mission to save kids her actual personality is bland.

The love interests didn’t feel exciting and I didn’t feel invested in her
