Well, this was something alright! This author does an amazing job at world building in a digestible way that seems relevant to the story but is not like an info dump on the reader. The character development is occurring at a slow pace but I think that’s the point. I’m excited to see Scarlett’s evolution and what happens in her journey of saving her people. I’m locked in on this series!
* no spoilers specifically but beyond this point, my review is my opinions on things that happen within the book that might contain clues as to what happens within this book *
Scarlett has these moments where I can understand where she’s coming from and why she acts the way she does but it is still incredibly annoying to read & have to go through these moments with her. She complains so much about things and then turns around and does them herself. But because SHE is doing them, it’s okay. If Sorin did the same, she would hate him and make him grovel.
Sorin’s court reminds me of the OG bat boys from ACOTAR. They are quirky, funny, yet loyal to a core.
Callan is so incredibly dense it was DIFFICULT to get through his POVs. He is selfish, he is unable to see beyond his desires.
Talwyn is hard to interpret. She is sometimes super tough love like but other times it seems almost schemish like she has an ulterior motive beyond the peace of the kingdoms. I wish she took time to get to know Scarlett. I think she wanted an instant bond with Scarlett and thought they’d agree on things. The reality is she doesn’t care to know Scarlett. She only cares what Scarlett can do for the kingdom it appears. I hope this is not the case as these two could be the baddest bitches I’ve ever read about. I hope there isn’t some female competition here.
Interested to see how things play out and how things go!

Wow I really enjoyed this one, a few scenes where it felt like it was being dragged but was needed for the plot to thicken I guess...Also the ending!

This was basically a retelling of ACOTAR but I still ate it up. The parallels were wild but it was still a really good book
It just keeps giving Throne of Glass.
The characters are completely incapable of picking up on clues. Aren’t these fae hundreds of years old? But their intuition is trash? It’s just really inconsistent.
Unfortunately I’ll probably read the next one because of the cliff hanger and I really love Sorin.

I didn’t think I would finish this one. It took me forever but I finally did. Very slow beginning but it picked up towards the end and of course it ended on a cliffhanger so now I need to know how this all ends
