HOLY SHIT!

This series is so good, from the characters to the plot to the spice, oh my god. I didn’t even see the cliffhanger coming.

If you like TOG and ACOTAR, I fully recommend this book. Yes, there are definitely big similarities but they are done incredibly well to the point I was so engrossed in this that I forgot what the inspiration was.

On to the next one~

10/10 do not recommend. Although, you have to get through this book to get to the rest of the series, which I've HEARD is good. But still not sure if I will continue or series DNF. This booked dragged. There was not a lot going on and yet so much drama for nothing. Scarlet is truly insufferable. I cannot stand her. Everything Nakoa said is true. I am DYING for her to build a relationship with Talwyn because SHE is amazing. And Scarlet is not a bad ass. If everyone has to assure everyone else that you're a bad ass, you're not a bad ass. Also, AS AN ADULT PERSON I HAVE NEVER STUCK MY TONGUE OUT AT ANOTHER PERSON. WHY IS THIS A THING?! And you are trying to make me believe that Callan still has a thing for her?! After all of this!? He's pining away?! Because she's THAT amazing?! Um, no. Truly ridiculous. The author is trying soooo hard to have quotable lines, it's just... BLECK.

I almost DNF'd it at 75%; but stuck through. Not much to redeem it

This is a fantastic journey of self discovery, phone, family, and romance. Excellent banter! The only reason this only got 4 1/2 stars for me was because the The  twist hot and cold that it became a bit repetitive and frustrating. Other than that, the plot to this book is immaculate. The twist at the end of this book had my mouth keeping open! Excited to start the third book in the series!

The series has its moments, but the flow still is... non existent? Like there are clearly scenes that the author wants to make sure are included, but there is little natural flow between them. It also is very reminiscent of a lot of other fantasy romances.

With that said I am having fun and I will pick up the next one, but it's likely more to do with my desire to procrastinate than the series itself at this point.

DID NOT FINISH: 145%

The story dragged on. Nothing really happened for most of the book. Timeliness seemed off and the characters didn't have good development.

I was so disappointed when I open this book to find out Callan had a pov. I feel like he could grow into an amazing character if he just got over his obsession  for Scarlett. I do think him and Eliza have some tension I feel like they could maybe work out. I loved Sorin even more in this one the way he never gave up on Scarlett. Even tho there was that moment I hated him but all is forgiven
"I will never stop, Scarlett. I will never stop telling you that you matter and that you make a difference. I will never stop telling you that you are a necessity in my life, andI sure as shit will be sure and say it extra on the hard days."
I cried when the Oracle was Juliette and Scarlett finally owned up to who she truly is
“I am someone who has faced the darkness and found the beauty it had to offer. I am someone who can create stars in the void when the light has gone out. I am someone who cares for those the realms have forgotten. I am someone who can bring beauty from brutal ashes. I am a fucking Queen.”
“Yes. Yes, you are, your Majesty,” Juliette replied. She stood slowly and bowed low
.

The first book was amazing but the second book took it up a notch. This book was literally everything I loved learning about the history, the courts, all the side characters. It answered so many questions yet left me with more. I cant tell you how times I cried during this book and there are so many scenes I will think about long after I finish this series. The second half once it started it didn't stop and I couldn't put the book down. There is an insane cliffhanger tho I did not see that coming
