A sweet story of new life, only wished we could be in each scene longer.

Until now I've been uncertain whether any graphic novel could achieve the same level of emotional resonance as well-crafted prose. They do say a picture speaks a thousand words, but when it came to graphic novels, I remained unconvinced. Only novels can break our hearts, make us laugh out loud, scare us out of our wits, change the way we think. I don't feel that way any longer and two exceptional graphic novels are the reason why: Three Shadows and Blankets.

Three Shadows unfolds like the darkest fairytale that helps us confront what we fear the most; in this case, the death of a child. The story is tender, moving and unique. The opening passage is haunting and beautiful. Once read you have to keep going: Back then life was simple and sweet. Everything was simple and sweet. The taste of cherries, the cool shade, the fresh smell of the river. That was how we lived, in a vale among the hills, sheltered from the storms. Ignorant of the world, as though on an island. And then. Then everything changed.
adventurous lighthearted

The artwork is beautiful.. I can definitely see the animation influence. Although it reminds me of Bone, I guess it's just not my kind of story.

It was a really good read. Quick, sad, and gave me almost a hopeless feeling while reading it. I was pretty sure I knew what was going to happen (and I did), but watching the father try so hard to fight against it was even more heartbreaking throughout. I agree with some of the other reviews that the ship voyage went on for a little too long and I didn’t feel that parts of that trip really got wrapped up at all in the end, it just happened and then we moved on. Some of the visuals confused me and I really had to pay attention to exactly who was who, but I did like the art style. Overall, enjoyable and I could feel myself getting choked up towards the end.

Visualmente es muy bello.
La historia me gusto, solamente que no sé que fue lo que falto como para que me volara la mente.

Definitivamente leería algo más de Cyril.

Eso sí:
