If you love books or movies that are about books or movies (I do), then you'll enjoy this. It had so many easter eggs and references to horror films throughout the ages
and did a good job of creating a villain origin story, too

While some parts didn't quite fit or dragged on or were a bit cliche, it all fit together nicely for me.

The first half of this book pulled me in and I was loving it. By 70% I was bored shitless and i hate not knowing what a book wants to be - paranormal
Horror or thriller.
I wanted to love this.
90s vibe books are definitely my thing but this was a let down.
The ending just demolished every single bit of character development that happened throughout the book.
There was lots of mixed media inserts which I first found to be so intriguing but they ended up playing no part in the actual plot and just didn’t work.
I feel like this tried too hard to be Grady Hendrix and it wasn’t.

It’s a bad idea to remake a horror movie. It’s even worse to remake one that’s cursed…

Burn the Negative by Josh Winning is a horror thriller about a remake that starts to have as many trouble to it as the original.

The Guesthouse was a cult classic horror film from the 90s that featured a mysterious ghost killer called the Needle Man and a young girl who seemed to know when a new victim would get claimed.

Laura is an entertainment journalist sent to cover a new miniseries called It Feeds, which turns out to a remake of the mostly forgotten horror film. Unfortunately? Bad stuff starts happening with some deaths being similar to those in the original movie.

Laura is sure something must be behind it, not only because she’s a reporter but before she changed her name she was a child actress that starred in the original.

Working with a horror documentarian, a troubled psychic, and wannabe actress sister, she starts to out the pieces together on the fates of all those who died that were connected to the Guesthouse…including the original horror that inspired the film.

Unfortunately, bodies keep piling up, and Laura is starting to look like the chief suspect…

Recommended for those who are into stories about horror stories, weird film fiction, and movies like Scream.
