I loved this story until the very end.
The plot is simple. Child actress who has changed her identity becomes a reporter and ends up having to do a write up on a 'remake' of the film she starred in as a kid.
It was one of those movies that was cursed. Actors died in real life, in very similar fashions that their onscreen fictional characters suffered in the film.
Our main character changed her identity, and then is forced to relive trauma.
It was great, but the ending didn't sit right with me. Still, it's very much worth a read

I loved the premise of this book where Laura, now a journalist, goes to write a story about the remake of the 90s horror movie she was in. In The Guesthouse, Laura played a creepy little girl who saw a monster.

I love that this one is written about a movie, but doesn't rely on movie scripts to rehash most of the story. It does have added tidbits between each chapter, but they're a fun little addition. The book was fairly creepy and a little gory. I liked going through the past and present with Laura. I thought I had figured out the twist a few times, but I definitely didn't. I love the ending of this one. I'm thinking some people may not like it, but I thought it was perfect. This is definitely a bit of a love letter to horror movies. If you do love horror movies, I think you would like this one even if it ends up a bit predicable for you.

I look forward to reading more by Josh Winning.

ENTERTAINING AF!
Mixed media = FUN!

This book reminds me of an early '00s horror movie. Fun premise, quick pacing, wheels fall off at the end (but somehow still oh so good).

This book has a few negative reviews, which I get. Some of the character choices aren't totally in line with the motivations, some of the more sentimental writing is overdone, BUT I ask you, WERE YOU NOT ENTERTAINED?

Seriously, one of the most popcorn, entertaining, fun books I've read in a while. If your a horror movie fan, I highly recommend this one.
