This is the 2nd book about a cursed movie I've read in 2 days and it's so fun it makes Horror Show by Greg Kihn that much worse by comparison. Thus is very much a movie that revels in the tropes of 90's horror, it's creepy, slashery, supernatural and psychological and you never quite know who to trust. The media at the end of chapters like the VHS cover and tweets are super fun. The author clearly knows and and loves the genre and really went to town creating an immersive world.

This was my first novel by Josh Winning and I was hooked. The entire time I was reading, it was hard not to compare it to Grady Hendrix’s novels, which is always a compliment in this genre! This felt very much like watching a horror/slasher film but “reading version”. The storytelling was creative, the Winona Ryder comments made the protagonist feel relatable as someone who generally only reads thrillers, and it was a very difficult book to put down. This is a book I will definitely reread in the future.
