The idea behind this book was really good in my opinion. The idea of a cursed horror film ruining a child stars life and then coming back to haunt her as an adult is very compelling. Unfortunately, the lead of this story just wasn't that good. The story couldn't decide if it wanted to be supernatural or not, making you unsure if things were really happening for far too long. I also didn't care for the ending. While I think there is a way to have an interesting or good end of making friends with your demons, this was not that. The demon that she is friends with is just Stabby McMurder and has no dialogue lines. So in joining with it she is just a bad person. There are better horror books out there that are more worth your time.

This was both fresh and cliche, with tropes we love and some new feeling spins. The writing style was propulsive, and I loved the mixed media between chapters. So fun and a great read to start off the spooky season

I really wanted to enjoy this. Horror meets movies meets child star trauma? Sign me up. But the execution just wasn’t for me. The ending also felt off. I also truly thought Amy and Brian and other people were setting up Laura for some sinister ritualistic purposes mirroring the way her mother and other adults used her for their own benefit so the internalized trauma but turning her into a monster I guess surprised me but felt more like surface level and a little boring
