I really enjoyed it. Found it funny, liked that Mallory had flaws. I do think some things were rushed over.
I did not like how everyone gaslit her though. They all made it seem like she took it upon herself to keep things running when in reality if she didn't do that they'd be in a completely different place so I liked when she actually stood up for herself when they were being rude about dinner.
And also the tournament thing, she had every rate to be angry about the fact he paid for her place and kept it from her. If their relationship hadn't changed than fair enough but it did and everyone knew about it but her.

An enemies to lovers, slow burn set in the world of competitive chess. The author (Ali Hazelwood) consistently does a great job at developing complex, rich family backstories for characters and set them in very specific worlds. Liked, didn’t love this one.
I literally wrote the longest review of my life & I deleted it by accident?
I need to cry a bit then I may rewrite it .
Anyways , where do I purchase a NOLAN SAWYER PLEASE?

This book was good. I love Ali Hazelwood’s books and although this one didn’t rate as high as the other ones I still thoroughly enjoyed reading it. The reason for my rating isn’t that the book is bad it just lacks things I love. I would’ve enjoyed some more spice and some more chapters of Mallory and Nolan as a couple. Their relationship is probably one of the most realistic ones I’ve ever seen written and although at times I wanted to shout at Mallory or her sisters through the book the family dynamic was also very well written. I enjoy how Ali Hazelwood writes powerful intelligent women without making them seem withdrawn completely from the idea of love and relationships.
