I didn’t love the characters. I didn’t see the appeal in Nolan and thought he was very distant. Mallory’s sisters were so annoying even beyond normal sister behavior like

discussing her sex life at dinner and hanging out w nolan without telling her

Mallory was always so lost about her own life events which is so annoying. She sat at the library all day and studies chess but somehow forgets to look up how tournaments work?

check & mate is such a cute read! i finished in a day because i just needed to know what happens! the epilogue was cute but i would have really loved to see them play each other.

That's highly improbable to happen, but I still moved! Swoon-worthy and lighthearted at times, but it never glossed over the issues of our complex heroine, and I loved it!

Wished we could have witnessed how they will play against each other again after everything that happened because the buildup for it was too much for me to handle, and I needed it so bad!
