Cute, quick read. Some good silly conversation. Overall pretty predictable though.

I'm sorry to say I laughed through way more of this book that I had planned in this story of a widow rebuilding her life. Waxman writes like a kind-hearted, yet sardonic friend that you'd like to have, just don't puss her off. I heard she was I inspired to write this book after a fight with her husband-so her arc of widow was set after that!

A lovely story of second chances, family, new friends and gardening. I would love to be part of Lili’s gardening class!

A woman who has been white-knuckling it through life after the death of her husband some years ago begins to see how her life could have room for change and happiness when she is asked to take a gardening class for a work assignment.

I enjoyed this book. I laughed, I cried. The motherhood parts were perfect, and Lili's struggle was definitely understandable, even though I haven't been in that situation myself. The book made the gardening, though, seen very complicated but also like you should be able to get it all done in a day. I was confused by the class; there were raised beds for vegetables that everyone was supposed to rotate through, but then they didn't rotate and were all the time sitting in the beds, and sometimes they had herbs and flowers and other times they weren't mentioned, and then it was all ready to be harvested all at once. But it made a lovely backdrop for the story.

Lili is an artist, struggling to raise her two daughters after her husband is killed in a car accident. Sounds grim, but she is plucky and funny, accompanied by a cast of quirky characters and wonderful descriptions of both emotion and location. This was a lot of fun!
