On her first day of college, Olivia is kidnapped. Along with other girls, she is kept for 5 years by two sadistic men who do abhorrent things to them. When Olivia kills one of the captors and escapes, she lives in constant fear that the man will come back for her. When the inevitable happens, Olivia makes the decision not to be a victim again

This storyline caught my attention, and i really wanted to enjoy it, but it ended up just being an ok read. While there are some grusome scenes, they were part of the plot and did not appear gratuitous. That being said, this book could have been 35-40% shorter and still told the complete story. There was almost a whole chapter on Olivia's father's alcholism that was unnecessary. I can only think that this aspect of the story was personal to the author in some way. Overall, this is not a book I would want to read again.

I loved the dark dirty details of torture this book portrayed. The graphic bits could have been expounded upon but overall it was quite pleasing.

Olivia is life goals- to even be 1/4 as strong as her would be a gift. I hope I never have to be that strong, but if you come out of this book and don’t have a girl crush I’ll be sorely disappointed.

Good but couldn't have finished sooner

I liked this book eventhough it was very disturbing to read. Unfortunately about a seventy pages in it started to drag and I got bored and skipped quiet a few pages to get to the conclusion.

I want to start off by saying this was way darker than any thrillers that I have ever or do ever read! But with that being said, this is the first thriller I have read in a very long time that I felt a connection with each character, including getting to see the absolutely insane thinking of the tormentors! This book had me gripped from the beginning and I couldn’t wait to read more! I found myself completely engrossed in this story and wish I wouldn’t have told my girlfriend all about it because now I really want her to get this reading experience since she’s pretty new to reading! I loved this writing style! I will forever chase these kinds of books that give me feelings like this one did! Can’t wait to read Olivia next and more by this author soon! Awesome book! Just check trigger warnings for sure!

I really enjoyed this book although some parts were hard to stomach.

The dog does NOT die. I am bummed to find out I can't read the sequel though due to a dog death.
