There's not really a plot but the story is a shifting between the perspectives of several characters and how their stories intertwine. It took awhile to really feel invested but it was really worth it. These characters are all extremely sympathetic even if they're not "good" people according to society. The way this small town's characters are all connected and how their relationships grow between them is really good.

I would give this a detailed review, but I don't really know what happened.
It's a good book; McCarthy's prose is as elegant in this first novel as in any, but frequent perspective shifting makes it hard to follow. Despite the feeling that I missed something in the confusion, I enjoyed it and think it's worth a read for any McCarthy fan.

There’s some beautiful passages at the end, but this was a slog to get through and I understood maybe 40% of what was happening.
