The story is slow to start, but the last part goes at breakneck speed and sets a new and intriguing course for this series.

Niet altijd even geloofwaardige situaties. Toch blijven de personages geloofwaardig en leest het boek als een trein. Of misschien waren de twee vorige delen gewoon té goed zodat mijn verwachtingen onrealistisch hoog lagen? Ik ben benieuwd naar deel 4.

Good book, but it makes you wonder how so much can happen to this one Proctor family. It was engaging, but definitely unbelieveable. Will continue on to the next book, just becasue I like the characters and love a series

Can’t wait to continue reading the story of Gwen and Sam! I enjoyed this one much better than Killman Creek.

A lot of readers gave the 3rd installment of the Stillhouse Lake series either a thumbs down or mediocre reviews. I would like to just quell those notions. First of all, the plot for Wolfhunter River was good. Was it a transitional book for Gwen Proctor and the gang? Yes. Did the transition work? For me it absolutely did. The novel picks up a few weeks after where the 2nd novel, Killman Creek ended and Gwen once again faces old shadows brought on by being the ex-wife to notorious serial killer Melvin Royal. Now that Gwen has chosen to stop running and stay at Stillhouse Lake for the sake of her children's normalcy, she faces the threats and unwelcoming, sometimes unsettling townspeople head on. When a mysterious phone call leads Gwen and the gang (Sam, Lanny, & Connor) to Wolfhunter River things take a dark turn and what was supposed to be a simple day trip ended up being a fight for survival.
I loved that Rachel Caine kept the different POVs from the second installment going. I like this style especially since we really know who these characters are by now. What I didn't like however, was that Connor is never really heard from in this book. He has his own chapter towards the end. If he didn't have his own chapter it wouldn't affect the plot at all, so I found that to be a bit pointless. It also take a bit to get to the heart of the matter--there are a lot of twists and turns in this book as well. The end is absolutely crazy as hell and lays the groundwork for the 4th and final installment of the Stillhouse Lake series. I can't wait to pick it up next!

I have to start by saying that I absolutely love this series. It always draws me in and I hate to put it down when I have to. This book has everything the first to had. The tension, emotion, and sense of urgency for protection of not only Gwen’s own life, but to a greater degree than ever before, the lives of her children and Sam.
This time we start with information about a child abduction and then are thrown into Gwen’s life. At first I was highly confused about the correlation between the two, but knew the question would be answered, and answered it was, later in the novel. Gwen has thrown herself into the spotlight, trying to clear her name even more so and to get her actual story out there. Except, she is blindsided and Miranda, a leader of The Lost Angels is there too and both Miranda and the talk-show host throw her under the bus. From there it is a downward spiral. Gwen loses control, or rather control in her eyes and runs back to her home in Stillwater.
When she returns home, more begins to happen included a snake and a film crew. It is only when the second urgent phone call comes, the second being from the daughter of the first, that Gwen agrees to leave (with kids and Sam in tow) to help solve the mystery at Wolfhunter River. Only, trouble follows Gwen like no other and they soon find themselves into trouble they couldn’t have imagined before.
This small town is the epitome of a one stoplight town and that only adds to the eeriness of the case Gwen now finds herself helping with, but always finds herself fighting for her life and the lives of all those around her.
This small town isn’t letting its deep dark secrets out and won’t give up without a fight, even if that means death.
But we know Gwen. Gwen is a fighter. Always a fighter. Even when the ending seems grim.

Melvin Royal might be dead but his notoriety as a serial-killer continues to haunt Gwen and their children. All she wants is to try to provide her children with some sense of normalcy but a group of internet vigilantes who believe she is as evil as her ex-husband are seeking their own brand of justice and simply won't allow it.

Gwen is seen as a fighter and a survivor to some, there are people who have begun to seek Gwen out for help facing their own demons. When Gwen receives a series of desperate calls hailing from Wolfhunter River from a woman and then her daughter, it's not something she can simply ignore.

Wolfhunter River proves to be a secluded, eerie town with rules all of their own. It's the kind of town where the inhabitants are not keen on outsiders and they have no problems expressing their hostility. Gwen and her family find themselves putting their lives at risk to help the daughter of the deceased woman who initially called her.

Rachel Caine books are high octane with so much stuff happening your heart pumps fast when bullets fly or a car rolls over. It is written to keep the reader at the edge of there seat and turning the pages. I like the transition this installment builds upon moving Gwen into further develop and moving the series ahead.
