This book was so thrilling and makes you excited for what happens next

I love the series, but I prefer the first two over the third. It’s enjoyable, but it just goes a bit slower than the other two. I really enjoyed this one and the second one in audiobook form.

I can't get enough of Rachel Caine's thrillers! This is book 3 in the Stillhouse Lake series, there's at least going to be one more book too! I really enjoyed this book. I love these characters, except the kids sometimes lol But, I found the kids to be much less annoying in this book :P The plot took a twist that definitely sets up the possibility for this to be a long running series. If you like thrillers, please give the Stillhouse Lake series a try!
I read this for Book Battle prompt "Sequel"

Not as good as the others, but kept me reading. The last 20 pages pull all together. Too many characters and subplots going on. The kidnapping that takes place in the prologue is not really mentioned again until then either. Too much crammed into the last few pages...

Yes!!! The first two books in this series were very good so I was a little hesitant to get into the 3rd..SO glad it was worth it! The events of the first book play a small part but does not overtake the direction of the new storyline. Smart thrillers can be hard to come by so I'm glad Ms. Caine has turned her romance pen to something a little more gruesome :)

1.5 stars. Super disappointing book considering I really enjoyed the first two in the series and was looking forward to reading this one. There were entirely too many plot lines that were just so far fetched. The series really should have ended with the second book. This felt like a wasted attempt at trying to keep Sam and Gwen alive in another story that just didn’t work. I almost DNF it because it was that bad.

This is a good thriller but I much preferred the first two books. However, this is a transitional book, so it’s not going to be as good. It is an enjoyable book with lots of interesting character developments.

I loved loved loved the Stillhouse Lake series and had high hopes for this book, but unfortunately, Wolfhunter River fell a bit short for me.
I felt like the author was trying to accomplish too much and my head was spinning with trying to remember all the details. The weird beginning confused me because that missing girl didn't really need to be added to the story at all. Like, okayyyy Gwen needs to do something big and good to spin her back into the media in a positive way, but that whole plot point felt contrived.
I still loved reading about how Gwen and her family make it through even more hardship, but I wish the whole book focused on them without adding in a whole new "kidnapped child" part. I guess I was hoping for a tidy wrap up to the series with this book focusing on how they were living their lives and finding their new normal with Melvin dead and gone. Instead, this book felt like a bunch of disconnected chapters that the author turned in and her editor squished together and called a book. And now it looks like it's going to be a whole new series with Gwen as a private investigator! I'm excited about the series continuing, but I hope the next book comes together more.

I will forever be a ferocious fan of Gwen Proctor but this installment was not what I was hoping for. Coming off of such an explosive ending in the previous book, I was surprised when, despite a possible inciting incident (HELLO, Gwen ends up blindsided on stage of a talk show by her archenemy, Miranda Tidewell) the subsequent 100 pages or so were lagging. Though the remaining 200 saved it as a whole, I was left wondering why the chapters in between the talk show confrontation and the Gwen & family's eventual arrival to the mysterious/disturbing happenings in Wolfhunter weren't cut in order to keep the action at the forefront. Once Gwen offered her testimony to the local PD following the death of a woman who had called Gwen desperate for help. When the woman's daughter calls her a few days later, also in distress, she knows that despite her best intentions to keep her children safe and away from situations exactly like that in Wolfhunter, they all pack up and head in to investigate and the rest of the story spirals quickly into what I've come to expect from Caine: the disappeared child, the dirty cops, the fire fight, the horrific murders, and general hate towards Gwen's innocence in her husband's old diabolical ways. I'd say that if you've already made it through the preceding two books, this one should definitely still be next on your list.
