Poetry isn’t for me, at least not Walt Whitman’s. It was good but it lacks a theme to me. I also prefer poetry that is short, the first one is 60 pages long.

Leaves of Grass is a good book for when you are camping or outside in the US. You can pick it up, feel inspired, and feel connected to the land. It's a slog to get through but very very beautiful.

Early Buddhism for Christian America, Leaves of Grass transcends and delights. Whitman is full of laughter and conspires for the reader to join in laughing along with him.

Beautiful. Really the most beautiful poetry I've ever read. The ideas, emotions, visual expressions, all are amazing and as another reviewer said, really revolutionary for his time. Whitman speaks of men and women, nature and equality, democracy and freedom, and he moves me everytime I sit down with him. Lovely.
