Loved this one way more in concept than in execution, I think. Having read three of Hendrix's later books before this one, there's a frustrating "unsteadiness" to Horrorstör that definitely gets ironed out in his later work. There's not as much emphasis on character building here, or at least not the type I enjoy reading, but maybe that one's on me and I should consider a reread. The worldbuilding, though, is incredibly solid. And I have to make a special mention of the artistic formatting of the book (audiobook listeners, I think you might be missing out). Every detail put into making the pages look like an Orsk catalog was perfect, and the slow shift from showcasing furniture to torture devices, with the same corpo-speak descriptions for all of them, was genuinely hilarious . Not my favorite Hendrix book by a long shot, but definitely a fun one!

'She didn’t expect life to be fair, but did it have to be so relentless?'
Imagine this, you're in a job that you are desperate to get away from and then the boss asks you to do an additional secret shift. All because of objects being broken in the store overnight, it shouldn't be your problem but it is about to be. This is the start of Amy's thrilling adventure.
Absolutely amazingly. I am stumped by how good this book is and I was disappointed that life got in the way of reading it in one sitting! If this book taught me anything, it is the importance of being on the right side of your boss. You never know when you might need them to get you out of a haunting situation.

Fun, and the catalog-style book design was a great bonus. A spooky story set over one night in a strange furniture store. But overall, nothing special.
This was a really entertaining read. I really didn't expect it to ramp up halfway through, it was quite slow and then BAM plot. It was worth the read!
