"From spic to African-American nigger, Lou Adams believed, as the mood struck him."
I generally adore Elmore Leonard books. This one wasn't up to his usual standard. Oh, it was still smooth as silk, witty and inventive, but the characters didn't hook me. Jack Foley from 'Out of Sight' is the only one who isn't stone-cold killer.
Dawn, turned up to 11, might be one of the scariest of all Elmoreās people. Dawn! This was such fun.
Ah, Elmore Leonard, he's the best. This is a follow-up to Out of Sight, so if you like Jack Foley this one's for you. Good stuff. Such an apparently effortless writer, great dialogue, all the usual.
