Qué duro es leer a Fernanda Melchor. Me pasó con Temporada de huracanes y ahora con esta novela. Sus páginas son un espiral de tormento y sufrimiento, y un desenlace que se intuye, pero que de todas formas te golpea cuando llega. Es de esas novelas que es mejor entrar sabiendo poco o nada y adentrarte en la trama de la mano de sus personajes.

Not really sure what just read? The book is translated and written in lonnnngggg sentences without pauses between sentences or paragraphs. It reads like one long stream-of-conscious which actually got my anxiety going. However, the writing style followed the plot as from the moment you start the book you know it’s a downward spiral to the finish, which was impressive/intriguing. 

The plot itself deals with some big themes like racism, sexism, classism but also LOTS OF TWs!

Definitely not a book I would recommend.

this is entirely a matter of personal taste, but this was not for me. i found it interesting how it took a peek at how male violence is bred and how it festers. it’s not a book you’re supposed to enjoy, i think, but i just wish i’d read what it was about before picking it up

Just not my type of story. The book was well-written but the story was not attractive. It was quite vile and unpleasant.
