 it's so easy to just curl into a ball and never let anyone see your face or hear your thoughts. it's so easy to let life pass by without really living. it’s comforting in a way and always consistent. but so miserable and so lonely.......this story reallyyyyy struck a cord with me..…..reading was a pleasure in relatability but a nightmare in possibilities. and yearning and yearning and yearning. i will be thinking back on this a lot, especially when i catch myself pulling away like raif.

This is one of the best books, if not the best book I have ever read. Sabahattin Ali has really captured what it’s like for someone who is more melancholic to go through life and find relief of their melancholia, only to fall back into it and question the purpose of life. It is a beautiful story that will stay with me for a long long time and a book I will reread many times.
