More pathetic version of 500 Days of Summer.

There’s nothing romantic about this book. Raif Efendi was given the privilege of studying abroad while war happened in his hometown, and he wasted it by wandering the city and reading, all while claiming he’s a shy man. He ignored his father until the man died :////// then threw away every opportunity he had for a woman he barely even knew. He’s even not a good husband and an absent father :////

The writing is fine and i have to say some parts hit me hard.

Very heartbreaking is the story of Raif, a man who first appears to be quiet and devoid of any life, until we go back in his past when he was a young man living in Berlin and meets the love of his life, Maria, the Madonna in a fur coat. I found myself very engaged in the storytelling of his memories, and I also found myself relating a lot to Raif’s character as well as Maria’s.
The author does a beautiful job at exposing the beauty of love, how much it can change a person who’s spent most of his life alone and afraid, how one person can leave a life long lasting impact on someone.

Overall a beautifully written book.  A lover’s tragedy. Easy to read although it took me a bit to get hooked.

wrong moment to read this. le littéraire hates when he is trapped in a deep just like me for real.
