The first half of this book took me almost 2 months to read. I just didn't want to pick it back up. The second half however, I read in 2 days.
The characters are good and the story is intriguing but I felt the timeline was all over the place and the pace of the writing was erratic in moments. Characters would go from investigating something, straight into spice, then be in an unnecessary argument on the same page. I just didn't get it.
Some points of book 2 made book 1 completely unnecessary, so much so that I think if some fluff was taken out of both books they could easily be put into one book that would've been a lot easier to read. Honestly I had to skim read some of it because I just wanted the FMC to get to the point.
I also feel like the author wrote the last couple of chapters of this book when the first was written and just winged the rest of the book to try to fill it out and get to the conclusion she wanted. Which, I get, but it made some parts feel rushed and other parts completely pointless.
An example, and probably the most annoying moment, being the massive event that everyone was obsessed over (The Feast of The Wolf) that was made out to be the pinnacle of the book, was over within a chapter. I truly don't understand what the point was of bringing up the whole "Your biggest fear or a secret of your heart will be wrenched from you as the sacrifice.” and making such a big deal about it and focusing on it for the majority of the book if they were just going to completely disregard it once we finally got there. Maybe I missed something, the story did speed up a hell of a lot as soon as The Feast was over but at that point it's 85% through the book and I'm wondering why I didn't dnf at the beginning. I wish I could say that last 15% made up for the rest of the book but, while the ending was 100 times better than both book 1 and the first three quarters of book 2, if I have to read almost 2 entire books out of a 3 book series for it to get good what's the point?
All that being said, I still want to know what happens and will be reading book 3. At this point though, I'm reading for Wrath and Wrath alone. Lets hope book 3 pulls through and the ending makes up for the past 2 books.

Overall I’m enjoying the series. I have two complaints- the writing is a bit too close to some other authors. So much so I’m certain some lines and descriptions are plucked almost word for word from other books. Second- Emilia seems to run reckless into danger and never faces any consequences. She is unskilled and untrained and aside from a few lessons on mental shielding and stance she hasn’t learned much, yet somehow manages to complete impossible tasks? I’m not buying it. Many of her ideas make me roll my eyes and yet she’s successful. It takes me out of the story.

The end felt a little rushed to me and I got a little lost there for a minute, but overall I loved this book!!!

“HE SPUN ON HIS HEELS AND KICKED THE DOOR IN” I laughed for a solid 5 mins at that sentence
La personnage principale est agaçante ++. Je voulais donné une chance au Tome 2 mais il relève pas le niveau dès le début.
