Check trigger warnings before reading! I loved this. I loved how the characters mirrored each other. I loved how tense it was. I loved how you never knew what the right answer was. So so good.

I really wanted to like this book. The concept is pretty solid. But the execution was lacking. It wasn’t a thriller or a moving piece of human ingenuity and survival instincts. It felt kind of boring throughout. There wasn’t any suspense or tension. The characters didn’t really play off each other like I expected.
I should have DNFed it, but I was holding out for its potential.

It’s dark and tense but still manages to be very digestible. I enjoyed Rachel and witnessing her growth. I found her to be a very realistic character and her journey was methodical, which I appreciated. I don’t understand the point of Emily’s POV, it seemed somewhat unnecessary. I also don’t think her backstory justifies her role in the plot.
