Every time I read a Neil Gaiman novel I walk away feeling like I have experienced a lesson in profound sadness, joy, adventure, and madness all at once.

I can't write a review of a Neil Gaiman novel. They're too magical for me to talk about. I just want to read them and I want other people to read them and I don't want to talk about them. Somehow, I feel like talking about them would make them less magical.
Wonderful, whimsical, and dark. If you enjoyed Coraline, this is a must read.
While I did enjoy this story and found it intriguing, I think I just didn’t really get it. I knew absolutely nothing about it going in, not even the genre, so I had no idea what to expect, and still being new to Neil Gaiman, I couldn’t predict what it would be like. So all that being said, I feel like I was trying to figure out what type of book this was for most of the time. And that’s not to say I didn’t enjoy it or find it interesting because I did, but I just think I missed something.

This book made me laugh, cry, scream, shudder, and hang on to and snuggle with every wonderful word. This was my second foray into [a:Gaiman|1221698|Neil Gaiman|https://d.gr-assets.com/authors/1234150163p2/1221698.jpg]'s work, and now I can't wait to dive into more.
I can't even talk about it. It's amazing. Yes, it can be viewed as young adult fiction, really, but that's not necessarily a bad thing. As it states in the book, there are no real adults anywhere. There's nothing wrong with horror stories for children; in fact, they can be just as creepy as horror stories for any age.
If you haven't read it, read it, especially if you're a beginner Gaiman reader like myself. Read this, love it, and then move on knowing that his other stories are even more loved than this.

This was my first experience with Neil Gaiman's work and definitely won't be the last. He has such an amazing way with words and this story even though being a short book had so many layers. I loved the narrators love for books and how you never really know his name. Going into this I didn't really know what to expect but it was such an amazing read and I'm glad this was the first book of his that I picked up.
