I loved the book and movie. It was very sad and when I read this book at a very young age, I always get the 'walking in the air' song stuck to my head. Wonderful it was from childhood :)
A wonderful read from my childhood, one I’d certainly suggest for other youngsters. Whilst it is not my all-time favourite childhood read I can still recall all the details of this one meaning it certainly left a lasting impression upon my young mind.
And isn’t that what we want with children’s books, for them to leave a positive lasting impression?

Cute wordless story ala Frosty about a boy and his snowman and a nighttime trip to Russia.
Nice entertainment for little ones. Over 35 flaps to pull up for 'peek-a-boo' time.
The film version of The Snowman was such an important part of my childhood that I could hear its music in my head as I read this. I watched it last Christmas Eve with my lover but he just didn't get it, missing the tearjearking pathos of 'Walking in the Air' and the puddle of an ending. I was surprised to find that the book has less action than the film and no hint of Christmas, which was what made the film so magical. But it's still a beautiful, stunning and ultimately heartbreaking read; that last page with a single panel depicting the fate of the snowman is like a kick in the guts. Equal parts uplifting and melancholy, this is an absolute classic.
Probably not worth the $4.99 on the kindle store, but still a sweet little picture book.
Yeah, not gonna lie, kinda regretting the $5. But it's another one off my list!
