This book held my attention from the beginning. The characters were great and I love the banter between them. I related to a few things mentioned in this story which just made me enjoy it more. If you are looking for a fast paced quick read then give this a try. I really think you will enjoy it.

I received an arc of April and all thoughts and opinions are my own. Thank you to Ryleigh Sloan for allowing me to read this.

3.5 stars!!

This was a delicious, spicy read and it felt like a mixture of Chicago Fire and Cruel Intentions (both of which I love!). There were some twists that I did not expect and it urged me to keep reading in the middle of the night when I couldn't sleep. This was my very first Ryleigh Sloan read and I cannot wait to delve into her other books!

This was a fun quick read🤭

I really enjoyed this one.
If you’re looking for a story with firefighters and some forbidden and taboo love than this one’s for you🤭

Bailey has recently lost her das who was a firefighter and now there only her and her mom, but soon enough they won’t be two anymore. Her mom finds love again and gets engaged and they’re moving in with her new lover. To baileys surprise she recognizes the house since she’s been there few days prior and had this thing with the guy living there… well turns out it was her soon to be stepbrother…
Soon enough Bailey fell for him but she knew he was off limits…
Mason also fell for her and as much as he knew that she’s off limits he could be away from her…
How will things turn out between them?
Will they give in to their feelings ?

I was pleasantly surprised with this book! You never know what you're going to get when trying out a new author, but this book was such a fun read.

The writing is so good and flows so well and overall it just felt easy to read this book. The chapters are also not too long which is something I personally really enjoy overall when reading.

The plot was interesting, some events in the end for me personally felt unnecessary to the story, but it is what it is and overall it's really cute.

This book is overall fast paced, I think someone said this is a novella, it was only 140 pages on my reading app so that makes sense, this also means there was never a lull in the story or a moment where I felt bored.

There wasn't much to read in terms of world building, all we know is this takes place in Chicago, but nothing more is really said about the area other than there are some more upscale houses next to some more modest houses.

The characters are loveable, but with a book this short, you don't really get to know them further than what they're feeling towards each other and this is something I would've liked to see more of.

This book was about the spice, and there was a good amount of spice, I would jus have preferred a bit more detail and longer scenes. They were really good, they were just over too soon. There isn't much in terms of the romance itself in this book, but once again there's only so much you can fit into such a short book.

Overall, I would highly recommend that anyone looking to support Ryleigh Sloan start with April as it gives a good sense of her writing and characters. I am looking forward to reading more of her books.

*ARC Review*
Parts of me really enjoyed this novella. Other parts not so much. I love the storyline and the plot, but not the way it was written. I feel like it just jumps around too much. It was like that sections just abruptly ended and started a new section. I did notice a writing error in one of the chapters. It stated earlier in that paragraph that Mason was taken, but later in the same paragraph, it says he unbuttoned his Levi's and lowered his pants. Other than that, I did enjoy the novella. It got me it all the feels.  It does have trigger warnings to be careful of, which could be traumatizing for some. It has great character development throughout the novella! I will definitely be reading more from this author! I was over all happy with the book!

April is the kind of book that will stay with you forever.  The book is fast-paced and grabs your attention from the first page. Mason is the ultimate bully that you will hate to love ,but will love him anyway.  Bailey may be a virgin but she is so strong and such a powerful FMC. Ryleigh's writing took me on an emotional Rollercoaster in the best way possible.  I laughed, cried sad tears and then I cried happy tears.

I was afforded the opportunity to ARC read April for Ryleigh Sloan . Let it be known that this author is a force to be reckoned with.
