Really enjoyed this book. I loved the podcast angle. This book kept me guessing on how the two crimes, set 25 years apart although similar could possibly be connected. I did not figure out the link until the reveal. I enjoyed the layers of the characters where everyone is not as they seem.

On a depressing/sad note, I felt like it was an accurate portrayal of what rape victims have to endure when they choose to come forward with their stories. They are made to be the villain and have everything questioned. It further reiterates why so few of these crimes go unpunished/prosecuted.

It was good. I enjoyed how the flashbacks were handled through letters. I also enjoyed the podcasts interspersed through the story. It broke up the story and kept you moving through quickly.

I would have enjoyed the book more if they had set it in a real NC town. As an NC native, it seemed to have a bit of Jacksonville, a bit of the outer Banks, and a bit of Sneeds Ferry and it was very disorienting. I'm not sure the author has ever been to the North Carolina coast and it showed.
