<I>"There are terrible and poetic things in our lives and so often they are one and the same" </i>
These dogs at times are mischievous rascals and at other times vicious beasts (trigger warnings for animals dying both at the hands of the dogs--there is a horrific scene-- and of course the dogs themselves as well as an attack on a human). He really does a good job of bringing their personalities to life. That said, I don't think I'm the kind of person who is cut out to own and manage feral dogs such as these. I can see the appeal, I guess, for the right family. Perhaps the kind of family who is living in the Australian outback (although this family lives in Sydney).
<I> " On account of our animals we've lived a beautiful, brutal, awful, hilarious, escapdical life. And no, "escapadical" is not a real word, but I'll try to get away with it." </i>
This book is in places quite beautiful, albeit at times repetitive, but if you like pet/animal memoirs, it is probably worth a read.
I do recommend looking at the author's Instagram, where has has posted photos of all the dogs.
Cover is perfect.
PS- I have not read The Book Thief.
{library, audio}
