Why isn't this required reading in more schools? While reading it I felt that my NOT having read it in high school was a missed opportunity, as it ought to be a gateway to an informed discussion of feminism, accessible and thorough, lacking bitterness, platitudes and any prescriptivist approaches to equality or women's rights. Reading it now, being slightly more adult (moreso in age than in mentality) and having already formed so many opinions on "feminism", womandhood, gender, etc., I feel myself lapsing into uncritical nods of agreement rather than really unpacking Woolf's words or pursuing their potential validity in contemporary discourse. Still, better late than never, and while my first reading of this work came somewhat late, I doubt it will be my last reading of it.

This is by far my favorite work of nonfiction. I love Virginia Woolf and A Room of One’s Own is an incredibly powerful piece of writing that every woman and non binary person should read. I absolutely love it.
