I listened to the audiobook, so it was narrated by Jacqueline Woodson. She had a lot of passion for writing and how it shapes her outlook despite her possibly being dyslexic. I could feel the love she had for her brother and the how worried she was.

This book features some absolutely stunning poetry. It is a realistic story, as it should be since it's a memoir. I loved reading something that was a true story because it didn't necessarily feature one climax. It just goes through the natural ups and downs of Jaqueline Woodson's life. There is a lot to dissect here, a lot of beauty to savor. This memoir isn't super heavy and dark, but it definitely describes her struggles over the years. Woodson is doing something very admirable here, however, maybe because it's doesn't feature one single climax, I'm finding this one a bit forgettable. The writing is top notch, but the storyline just isn't sticking with me too much. Still, though, I definitely recommend checking this one out.
