The beginning of Royce and Hadrian! Really enjoyed it. 
Quick read with good pacing, nothing really outstanding but very very enjoyable!

Gwen's storyline wasn't my favourite (even though she's a fantastic character) but The Banter alone would get this five stars.

This is the first of the Riyria books I've read. I decided to read them chronologically, so I knew nothing of the protagonists when I started. That said, I thought it was just OK. It's an easy read.

I really hated one part of the middle of the book because an important event happened off page. I felt a little cheated that the author didn't bother to detail how the event happened. It just happened between chapters. That turned me off of the series. Won't be reading the rest.

Just barely fantasy, so don't worry no wizards, demons or the like. A good adventurer story with entertaining dialog and fun characters.

Despite not really being a short book, it is a very fast read (2 days for me). I'm already well into book 2 [b:The Rose and the Thorn|17163514|The Rose and the Thorn (The Riyria Chronicles, #2)|Michael J.
