A very interesting read but I struggled with momentum. As others have noted there are absolutely no names (the only proper noun throughout is Paris), and is almost a guide to the experience of women in the el salvadoran civil war. The story branches and digresses, every character's (always referenced in relation to others) story leads to others they come in to contact with, but the book is centered around the story of an ex combatent on the rebel side and her daughters, one of which was taken from her in the war and the others who she loses and gains throughout the post war peace. Its a beautiful book and the translation is excellent, although I found it hard work I'm so glad I finished it, and got to see the mothers story
Moderate: Rape and Sexual violence
